The Deal

Greetings Comedian and/or Agent/Manager/Person's Mom.

Welcome to the sheet for how the Comedy Corner Underground works. We normally run shows Friday 8pm, Saturday at 8pm and 10pm during the winter, and cut the Saturday late in the summer when everyone is outside enjoying the air not hurting. There is also an option to add a Thursday show if it's planned far enough in advance and you're expecting to draw heavy enough.

Average sales November 15 to April 15 are typically paying headliners $1100 for three shows on a $15 ticket. From April 15th to November 15th in the warmer months, are usually paying $580 for 2 shows as we cut the late when it's nice. You usually want to come here when the weather sucks.

Recording & Audio

The club records 100% of shows using Black Magic cameras (they're nice!), and tapes are provided free to all paid artists. We've also got house audio with 3 house mic channels, and split our recording into a Left (stage mic) Right (audience) stereo recording, allowing you to mix a little in post for submitting tapes to Sirius or whatever.

Hotel

We have a corporate deal at the Delta Hotel by Marriott — it's ~$5 cab from the club. When checking out, use code "P9C" in the corporate code — it will usually get the rate down to near $100–150/night. The club in winter months chips in $100/night onto the room.

Show Structures

Comedy Corner works on a few different structures, pretty much all defined below.

Deal 1 — Canadian Feature

  • Host is the feature, doing ~15–20 up top
  • 2–3 local guest sets
  • Headliner does ~45 minutes

Room takes 20%

Feature/Headliner split 20/80

Pay breakdown on $1k in sales: Club: $200, Feature $160, Headliner $640

Deal 2 — Co-Headline

  • Local host doing 5 up top
  • Headliners doing ~45 each

Room takes 20%

Host takes 10% or $40 a show, whichever is less

Headliners split remainder 50/50

Pay breakdown on $1k in sales: Club: $200, Host $40, Headliners each get: $380

Deal 3 — Normal Ass Show

  • Local host doing 5 up top
  • Feature (local or traveling) doing ~20–30
  • Headliner does ~60 minutes

Room takes 20%

Host takes 10% or $40 a show, whichever is less

Feature/Headliner split 20/80
